Today is Shri Babaji’s 58th Birthday. All over the world people are celebrating this special occasion. It is one of the great opportunities for Babaji’s devotees to get His blessings.
Many devotees are gathered to be in Babaji’s physical presence at the Dehradun Ashram. Elsewhere around the world others are coming together as one global family knowing that, whilst those in Dehradun are especially blessed to have His physical presence Babaji, as a Realized Yogi, is beyond the body.
In His talks and books He has spoken of the state of a Realized Yogi – One who was never born and always present with us all everywhere.
The most important Birthday Message that Babaji wishes to convey is that what He has achieved, He wishes everyone to achieve – immortality.
The status of a Yogi’s mind, a Jeevanmukta – one Liberated in this lifetime – has been beautifully explained by Adi Shankara in the great Upanishad, Vivekachoodamani:
“Unconcerned as life flows on, not identifying with the body or senses and so on, and beyond a sense of duty – these are the signs of one who is free even in this body – a Jeevanmukta.
Aided by the living words of the great scriptures, having Realized their oneness with the Supreme Self, the Ultimate, and thus free from the bondage of the cycle of birth – this is a sign of one who is free even in this life – a Jeevanmukta.
Such a One does not feel any identification with the physical body, the senses or any sense of ownership for the objects of the world – this is a sign of one who is free even in this life – a Jeevanmukta.
Seeing no difference between the Supreme Self, the Ultimate Truth, and the illusory individual self, and no difference between the Supreme Self and the illusory creation, for such a One sees the Ultimate Truth in everything – this is a sign of one who is free even in this life – a Jeevanmukta.
Such a One feels the same whether good people honor them or wicked people insult them – this is a sign of one who is free even in this life – a Jeevanmukta.”
Babaji conveys His love and Blessings on this special occasion.
It is our good fortune that we have Baba in our life and I would like to congratulate all my brothers and sisters around the world that the Divinity is so kind that we have been given Baba.
