On Thursday 13th September the birth of Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, was celebrated at the Rawang Centre. Mesmerising chants, in the form of Devaganam, were recited as Lord Ganesha was given the ceremonial bath, or abishegam, with milk, sandlewood paste and rose water.
All devotees present had the blessing of doing the milk abishegam and paying their homage to Lord Ganesha. Lord Ganesha was grandly adorned with new clothes and garlands after the abishegam. Pooja, bhajans and anathanam followed.
It was indeed a blessed birthday celebration of the deity all Hindus pay homage to first before the start of an auspicious occasion or event.
